JULY PROJECT UPDATE
We bought 38 pairs of heat holder socks from the money received during the July ingathering of funds. These socks will be given to the Ephrata Homeless Shelter.
Thank you to everyone who donated to the project.
Sunday, October 13th
11:00 AM
In The Memorial Garden
In celebration of St. Francis of Assisi (died 1226) who dedicated his life to service of God through care of animals and creation, we will gather to bless our pets and to thank God for the creatures that gladden our lives and for the earth that we share. Join us outside in the Memorial Garden for a Short Service of Thanksgiving and Blessing. A freewill offering for Guiding Eyes for the Blind will be collected at this Service. All pets are welcome but must be properly restrained and up-to-date on shots.
OCTOBER 2024 INGATHERING
Ingathering Sunday is October 6th. The needs this year remain the same; comforters (the Cozy Comforters Sewing Group will fulfill this need),
personal care kits, and school kits. Sample kits will be on display at the back of the Sanctuary September 16th, 22nd, and 29th. We will collect kit
supplies or money to buy supplies. Lutheran World Relief’s approximate cost to deliver the comforters and kits overseas: one comforter is
$2.80, one school kit is $2.85, and one personal care kit is $1.50.
Join Faith United in a congregation-wide daily spiritual practice this Lent: reflective time with prayer throughout the Bible. Pastor Marissa has written a daily devotional for our whole congregation (and beyond—we hope you’ll share it with others in your life!) for this Sacred Season.
Each day you will be directed to a specific prayer said in the Bible, and be offered one or two reflection questions. We pray that this daily time spent in God’s word will ground you in love and mercy as we walk through this holy season, led by our divine shepherd.

You can also pick up a physical copy in the back of the church or contact the church office and request a copy.
On the first Saturday of every month, from 8 to 10 AM we welcome our neighbors to Peter’s Porch. We distribute non-perishable food items and serve a free hot breakfast.
Doors open to the public at 7:30 AM, and breakfast is served as clients wait for their turn to collect food.

Faith United Evangelical Lutheran, Trinity United Methodist and St. Johns United Church of Christ is making available an at-home vacation Bible school for all interested children and families.
The VBS will be available via the church websites or by phone request from any of the churches beginning Sunday, Aug. 8.
The VBS unit is called “River of Life” and will have five daily themes with a time of storytelling, a video segment introducing the participants to various communities around the world, a daily craft utilizing items in the participants’ homes and encouragement to connect with community hunger alleviation ministries and programs.
Each day’s time of storytelling is presented by the Denver church pastors Marissa Becklin, Mike Roney and Brad Haws.
The daily themes include, “God Creates,” “God Provides,” “God Claims,” “God Protects” and “God Loves, We Love.”
Various scripture passages and stories will be introduced and connected to these themes, along with opportunities for participants and families to interact with one another about these themes and scripture.
Each week Pastor Marissa posts a video for families with a Bible story, questions to talk about together, a prayer, and an easy activity for your family to do together that week to engage your faith. Videos will be posted every Monday on our church’s YouTube channel, and can be watched at any time throughout the week! We hope this will be a simple and meaningful way for your family to do kid’s church together.
