There is a place for you here--we hope you will join us at Faith United to worship God together and receive the good news of forgiveness and grace.
Our worship service is at 9:00 AM on Sunday mornings. We have ample parking in lots on either side of the building and across Walnut Street. Greeters are waiting at both of our entrances (off of the upper parking lot and off of Walnut Street) to welcome visitors and answer questions. The upper parking lot entrance is a ramp, and is accessible (as is our sanctuary).
We follow a traditional style of worship at Faith United, using the beautiful and ancient liturgical form that the early church practiced. We like to sing, and you'll hear both the organ and the piano here. Though our worship form is ancient, our faith is modern--you will hear preaching about the gospel and what it means for our lives as Christian people today. You will see people of all ages involved in worship!
We celebrate Holy Communion every week, inviting all who wish to receive the Risen Christ to the Lord’s Supper. As a help to visitors, the entire service is printed in the bulletin; we use the Evangelical Lutheran Worship book only for the hymns. Be sure to introduce yourself after the service and feel free to join us for fellowship. Sometimes we gather in our downstairs fellowship hall after worship--we have an accessible wheelchair lift for those that find stairs difficult.
There is no dress code at Faith United. While some wear dresses or suits, others are more comfortable in jeans or shorts. All are welcome.
Children are also an important part of our worship life and we encourage their participation as they are able. Every service has a special children's sermon, and an opportunity for children to go to Kid's Church while the adults stay for the sermon. We have a nursery available with a changing table and play area for the littlest ones who need a break, and a livestream of our worship service is available there so that parents can continue to listen to the service.
Sunday worship usually lasts about an hour.
You’re also welcome to come by during the week to meet Pastor Marissa, to tour the facility, or to find out more about how Faith United can become part of your life. Please contact us to schedule a visit using the form below so that we can be prepared to spend time with you. You are always welcome to take part in service, fellowship and other ministries without being a member; if something interests you, contact the office to see how you can take part.
A spirited preacher and teacher, Pastor Marissa Becklin believes wholeheartedly in the life-changing power of God’s grace, and in God’s loving and everlasting presence in the midst of the brokenness that marks this world.
She is particularly passionate about helping people make connections between the holy and ancient words of Scripture and the powerful tenants of the Lutheran faith with their regular, everyday lives. Her husband, Pastor Hans Becklin, serves as the pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Reading, PA.
Pastor Marissa is a 2018 M.Div. graduate of the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. She received a B.A. in religion and psychology, summa cum laude, at Luther College in 2014, and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
In her free time Pastor Marissa enjoys reading, hiking, playing the piano and saxophone, and spending time with her family. She also loves to travel—whenever she meets people from other parts of the region, country, or world, she learns more about who God is and about the people who God loves (everyone, that is). Her favorite place that she’s ever been is Istanbul, Turkey. She feels honored to serve in Denver, PA, helping people learn about and experience the love and presence of God in and amongst one another.
